What is it?
Broadband ADSL is technology that splits your existing phone line into two channels. One channel is used to handle voice communication while the other channel is used for high-speed data connection (Internet access). This means that you can enjoy high-speed, always-on Internet in your home and/or office, and still make voice calls on the same line!
Unshaped vs Shaped
Unshaped ADSL is different to normal ADSL (Shaped ADSL) in as far as services requested via the internet are not prioritized by rating. In normal (Shaped) ADSL, service requests via the internet are delivered by priority, therefore the higher the priority the quicker the delivery. If a person were to request different services via the internet, e.g. web surfing, sending or receiving an e-mail and sending files via FTP, the services will be delivered in order of priority. Web browsing may be delivered first, mail delivered second and ftp files transferred third, the sequence depending on their priority rating allocated by the service provider.
With Unshaped ADSL you get:
- Lightning fast Internet and download speeds.
- What you want on the internet when you want it! First service requested, delivered first, not delivered in sequence based on priority rating.
- Continuous access. ADSL is always on which means no need to dial up every time you want to connect to the Internet.
- The freedom to surf and talk on the phone at the same time.
- To pay a single flat monthly rate.
- To surf up to 20 times faster than a standard dial-up modem.
- To keep your current ACITech e-mail address(es) and Faxmail number if you are already an ACITech customer and upgrade to ADSL.
- New customers can buy ACITech’s new ADSL All Inclusive Bundles.
